Walking Through Forests in Spain - Day 2

Today started with a little cool shower but it gave way to bright sunshine and clouds. It was still a little muddy on trail, in places, mostly from yesterday’s rain.

We enjoyed the walk through a variety of forests from a very dense and dark fir to open deciduous trees that the leaves were just beginning to emerge. Also many spring flowers.

We met other pilgrims along the trail from many countries. This group, from South Korea was singing songs from the “Sound of Music “; so Phil and I joined them. It turned out they did not know much other English and we did not know their language.

Every little town had a church.

Today we walked about 22 kilometers, 14 miles, from Roncesvalles Spain to Zubiri Spain it took us around 5 hours including a break for lunch.  Although we started our walking in France, yesterday, the rest of our walk will be in Spain.
